MCAC Winter Sports Athletes of the Week: Week of November 17-23
The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports athletes of the week awards for the week of November 17-23.
Kenzie Dahl, guard for Northland Community and Technical College, earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. In 63 minutes on the court, Dahl scored 40 points, shooting 50% from the field. She grabbed 14 rebounds, seven steals, and had an assist in the Pioneers' two games, helping them go 1-1 for the week. She shot 83.3% from the free throw line and averaged 20.0 points per game.
Minnesota North College-Vermilion guard Natorrius Truitt earned the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Truitt played 83 minutes over three games and shot 41% from the field and 45% from the three-point arc. He scored 38 points, grabbed six rebounds, stole the ball four times, and had two assists this week. Truitt led all scorers in the MNC-Vermilion vs. M State matchup with 16 points.
Maddie Kamm, point guard for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned the MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Kamm helped the Lady Jays to two wins this week, scoring 19 points and securing 14 rebounds, assisting on 14 baskets, and stealing 14 balls in her 46 minutes of playing time. In addition, she blocked four balls to round out a well-balanced stat sheet.
Riverland Community College forward Tristan Coleman earned the MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week honor. Coleman scored 54 points in the two Blue Devils wins, shooting 59% from the field and 40% from behind the three-point line. He also had 22 rebounds, seven assists, five steals, and two blocks in 59 minutes on the court. Coleman averaged a double-double for the week with 27 points and 11 rebounds per game.
Avant Jackson, the 285-pound wrestler at Northland Community and Technical College, earned the MCAC Wrestler of the Week award. Jackson went 3-1 at the Beaver Bash Duals in Minot, SD, last Friday. In his three wins, Jackson won by fall, won by a major decision, and won by a 10-6 decision. His only loss of the day came at the hands of an NCAA DII wrestler from Minot State.
